All Lady Gaga, All The Time

Yesterday I got some really exciting news - 2 tickets to Lady Gaga in Denver on July 28. I have already been listening to Lady Gaga nonstop, but now I have even more reason to brush up on lyrics and the lesser known songs. I am happy about the increased frequency because it has really given me an opportunity to appreciate the intricacies of each song.

This album in particular reminds me of some of my favorite Madonna songs from the '80s. For instance, I can't help thinking of La Isla Bonita when I listen to Alejandro. Bad Romance's "Walk, walk fashion baby. Work it, move that bitch crazy" are reminiscent of Vogue's "Ladies with an attitude, fellows that were in the mood, don't just stand there, let's get to it, strike a pose, there's nothing to it." Needless to say, I will expect the same level of provocation, performance, production, and innovation from Lady Gaga in concert as I do from Madonna.

Ok, all of these songs are really just about sunshine. But today, there is nothing better to sing about because it is beautiful outside and Spring is here after a LONG winter.

Song for Sunshine - Belle and Sebastian
Good Day Sunshine - The Beatles

I also want every day to look like an Edward Sharpe photo:

Playlist of the Day: The First Songs I Ever Discovered

The songs in this playlist have not necessarily stood the test of time, but they are the songs that first got my attention and got me interested in music. I remember sitting by my boombox and waiting to record (by pressing the play and record buttons at the same time) "I Wanna Dance With Somebody" whenever it would come on the radio; I named my 4th grade playground club "Express Yourself" after the Madonna song; I used to perform "Lost In Your Eyes" in my basement; and so on and so forth. These songs convinced me to shift my allowance spending from candy to blank tapes. These songs are the soundtrack of my childhood. View this Playlist on iTunes

Let's Hear It For The Boy - Deniece Williams
I Wanna Dance With Somebody - Whitney Houston
Express Yourself - Madonna
Lost In Your Eyes - Debbie Gibson
To Be With You - Mr. Big
Cars That Go Boom - L'Trimm

Playlist of the Day: Guilty Pleasures 1

I often say that you can't help who or what you fall in love with. Usually I say that when people are making fun of me for loving Ryan Seacrest. I may also be forced to say that about the following songs that I consider guilty pleasures and will only sing along to when alone in my car. I had to break this playlist into installments because I realized that I like a lot of embarrassing songs.

Playlist of the Day: Good Morning, Americana

Apparently I am in a country, americana, folksy mood today. Here is a playlist that will rock you right into the work day and not back into your flannel sheets (the dilemma I am currently facing).

Born Again - Cory Chisel and the Wandering Sons
Closer to You - Brandi Carlile
Feelin' Good Again - Robert Earl Keen
Are You Sure Hank Done It This Way - Waylon Jennings
Country Roads - Ryan Bingham
Home - Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros

Born Again - Cory Chisel and the Wandering Sons

Love this song, can't stop listening to it. It has a great americana sound with a rock vibe. Great way to start the day. Features the Raconteurs’ Brendon Benson and Patrick Keeler, Benson co-wrote “Born Again” and plays bass, while Keeler is on the drums.
